A richly carved mahogany stool stamped Cressent from the Empire period.
Shanked legs joined by a strut, and finished with hooves.

In 1811, Cressent supplied numerous seats to the imperial administration, as well as some very fine quality chairs
such as the mahogany furniture for the Hôtel de Beauharnais (German Embassy), from which our stool may have come.
