Two volumes in one in-12, period brown calf, spine with 4 nerves, gilt title, ornate caissons, speckled edges (defects including dull tail cap, rubbing, minor soiling not serious). Edition illustrated with an allegorical title-frontispiece and 20 full-page copper-engraved portraits of famous women. Old signature crossed out on the back of the frontispiece and signed on one of the endpapers "Célestine Calot".
