[LE VAYER de BOUTIGNY (Roland)]. Observations on a manuscrip - Lot 109
[LE VAYER de BOUTIGNY (Roland)]. Observations on a manuscript entitled Traitté du peculat. S.l., s.n., 1666. In-12, [6] f., 288 p., contemporary blond calf, 5-ribbed spine, red morocco title-piece, compartments decorated with a fleuron on mosaic morocco pieces of different colors, triple doé fillet bordering the boards, gilt coat of arms in the center, gilt roulettes on the spines and chasses, red edges (slight rubbing to the spines, rare russeting). A fine copy of this work in which the author defends his "Traité de la peine du péculat", the publication of which led to suspicions that he was supporting Nicolas Fouquet. This bibliophile was in the habit of modifying the bindings of the books he purchased, in particular to remove the marks of previous owners; it is most likely at his request that the cases of this copy have been rebound in morocco.
