[PANCKOUCKE (C.-J.)]. L'Art de desoppiler la rate, sive De modo c. prudenter. En prenant chaque feuillet pour se T. le D. Entremêmé de quelques bonnes choses. A Gallipoli de Calabre, l'an des folies 175884 [i.e. 1754]. In-12, 480 p., contemporary mottled havana calf, 5-nerved spine, red morocco title-piece, ornate caissons, gilt roulette at the edges, marbled edges (2 corners rubbed, browning, small tear without mq. p.331). A new edition differing from the original in terms of the parts it contains, if we are to believe Gay, who describes a similar edition with the vintage of "175886", but has not seen this one. "There is everything in this work: a great deal of bibliographical information, extracts from rare, singular and little-known books, analyses of old burlesque sermons and even a few scatological pieces, such as one by a good scoffer on the loss of a turd." (Gay, I, 280). Modern monogram stamped on title.
