[Greek Typography]. PLUTARCH. Plutarchi Apophtegmata regum et imperatorum. Apophtegmata laconica. Antiqua Lacedaemoniorum instituta. Apophtegmata Lacaenarum. Londini, apud G. Darres & C. Dubosc, 1741. Two parts in one volume, in-4, [1] f., 96 p., [1] f. chiffré [95]-96, 107 p., contemporary havana morocco, spine with 5 bzerfs, red morocco title-piece, ornate caissons, triple fillet with angular fleurrettes bordering the boards, double gilt fillet at the edges, gilt edges (head cap uncovered, one corner rubbed, moderate russeting). Edition by French-born scholar Michel Mattaire (1668-1747), whose real name was Michel Mettayer, who lived in London. He distinguished himself as an editor of classical texts. In his comments at the end of the volume, he explains that he has reproduced here the text of the Paris edition, 1624, Xylander's translation for the first two works, and Henri Estienne's for the last two, corrected where necessary by Le Roy.
