[Manuscript]. [Ornithology]. [DURU (Louis-Maximilien)]. Cour - Lot 159
[Manuscript]. [Ornithology]. [DURU (Louis-Maximilien)]. Cours d'histoire naturelle. Ornithology. XIXth c. In-folio, 456 numbered pages, [5] leaves (table), [9] folding tables off-text, contemporary green half leather with corners, smooth spine, red basane title and subtitle, label on tail (rubbing, dull corners, sporadic light russeting). Most probably unpublished (and probably also the only copy). This is the course composed and given by Abbé Duru at the Petit-Séminaire d'Auxerre, made up of "the best of Buffon's work on birds, and A. Comte's paintings", according to the author himself, quoted by Abbé Motheré in his work "Vie de Louis-Maximilien Duru" (Monterault-Fault-Yonne, Zanote, 1871), who mentions this manuscript on pp. 275-276. Very neat manuscript, including tables on birds of prey, passerines (3 tables), climbers, gallinaceous birds, waders (2 tabl.) and palmipeds. Provenance: Louis-Maximilien Duru (1804-1869), priest of the diocese of Sens, historian and poet (stamp and bookplate); Joseph Bierry (1851-1939), priest of the diocese of Sens (stamp and bookplate).
