[Manuscript]. [Joigny. Burgundy]. ANTIQUITÉS DE JOIGNY. Nine - Lot 193
[Manuscript]. [Joigny. Burgundy]. ANTIQUITÉS DE JOIGNY. Nineteenth century. Two parts in one in-folio volume, [126] leaves (including 2 title pages), green half suede, smooth spine, red basane title-piece, label on tail (spine, head- and foot-pieces rubbed). Important manuscript, probably unpublished. The Joigny library holds fragments of a work on the antiquities of Joigny by Davier (call number MS 70), but we have found no other similar reference in public collections. Manuscript written in ink on fine paper at r° and v°, i.e. approximately 248 pages of text; the second part preceded by a special title page, the two titles in a cathedral ornament. The document is very neat, with additions and corrections that may have been made by Abbé Duru. Provenance: Louis-Maximilien Duru (1804-1869), priest of the diocese of Sens, historian and poet (bookplate); Joseph Bierry (1851-1939), priest of the diocese of Sens (bookplate).
