MORÉRI (Louis). Le grand dictionnaire historique, ou Le mélange curieux de l'histoire sacrée et profane... A Paris, chez les Libraires Associés, 1759. 10 volumes in-folio, contemporary mottled havana calf, 6-ribbed spine, red calf title-pieces, stamped tomaison on black background, ornate caissons, double gilt fillet at the edges, red edges (occasional minor wear; very rare freckling; ink stain on title t.8). Last edition, the most complete and esteemed, in which the supplements by Abbé Goujet have been recast, all revised, corrected and enlarged by Abbé Drouet. Frontispiece engraved by Thomassin after Desmarets, and portrait of Moréri engraved by Thomassin after De Troy. An uncommonly fine copy in excellent condition. Provenance: D'Aligny de Cussy (bookplate ms. 18th c. repeated on titles); initials "Bd" stamped on tail of spines.
