Henri EVENPOEL (1872–1899), Belgian painter. Signed autograp - Lot 123
Henri EVENPOEL (1872–1899), Belgian painter. Signed autograph letter to Charles Masson, editor of *L'Estampe moderne* [as noted on the enclosed autograph envelope]. Blidah, Dec. 22, 1897. One and a half pages, in-12 format (slight fold marks in quarters). The painter acknowledges receipt of a payment sent by his correspondent and apologizes for the delay in replying, which was caused by preparations for his solo exhibition in Brussels. He then reflects on his stay in Algeria: [...] So you came to this charming Blidah and have fond memories of it? [...] I, too, am very enthusiastic about this wonderful sunshine and the Arabs, who are full of character! [...]”
