Outside margins: 39 x 60.5 cm This map of the Duchy of Chablais (Ducatus Chablasius) was drawn by the Piedmontese topographer Giovanni Tommaso Borgonio, engraved in Amsterdam, and published by the famous Dutch publisher Joan Blaeu as part of the monumental *Theatrum Statuum Sabaudiae*. It is one of the three major regional maps in the Savoy section of the atlas. The creation of the *Theatrum Sabaudiae* took nearly 20 years and served several purposes: to provide a precise overview of the House of Savoy and, above all, to demonstrate its power to the other princely houses of Europe.
