Provenance:
Château de Chacenay (Aube), kept in the same family.

The Sires and Barons of Chacenay by Abbé Lalore, Troyes, Librairie Léopold Lacroix, 1885 (with inversion
of attribution between the two portraits of the couple).
The attribution to Louis de Boullogne has been handed down through family tradition. An alternative proposal to
return this painting to Nicolas Fouché has been suggested.
