[Bible illustrée. Français. 1713]. HISTOIRE (L') du Vieux et du Nouveau Testament
[Illustrated Bible. French. 1713]. HISTOIRE (L') du Vieux et du Nouveau Testament, représentée avec des figures & des explications édifiantes À Paris, chez P. Le Petit, 1671. In-4, f. 552 p., fawn half-calf with small corners 19th c. in imitation, tear to a lower spine, some soiling and repairs at the beginning of the volume).
Bible known as the Royaumont Bible, whose translation is attributed to Louis-Isaac Le Maître de Sacy, or to Nicolas Fontaine. This edition, illustrated with more than 250 copper engravings on mid-page, was first published in 1670, and was reprinted several times until the middle of the 18th century.
A curious and interesting copy enriched by an amateur with numerous old engravings, in particular, almost all the illustrations of the work coming from another copy, of a different edition, mounted in such a way that they do not obscure the text. As a result the volume has grown in size and the boards are concave, but the binding has not suffered.
