We are passionate about heritage, the art of living and the history of the great French artists and craftsmen. We are always pleased to be able to advance research, to add an element to the corpus of an artist or craftsman, to complete a public or private collection as we discover each of you. There is still a lot to discover in France. French attics are always full of things to reveal. We could write pages about the treasures they hold, which have found their way back to the top floors or even to the most prestigious collections, after being rescued by restorers.
A chandelier (€825,000) that was rotting in an open barn now sits next to a fireplace that was destined for the dumpster (€240,000), an anonymous and neglected terracotta now features as an original modello by Guillaume Coustou in the Musée du Louvre (€262,500)... all objects deserve a meticulous appraisal!
We organise regular sales, both thematic and general, notably at the Hôtel Drouot, in Semur-en-Auxois, Amboise and Chambéry, but also throughout France. Sales of châteaux in situ are one of our firm's specialities.
Passionate about French seats, we have made this a recognised speciality of the house. From sale to sale, we have seen a succession of chairs with prestigious stamps and origins, some of them royal. Some can still be seen today at Versailles, such as the pair of stools that came from the Duchess of Parma, or the four Boulard chairs that are still in their original condition. These are true examples of how to study the manufacture and conservation of the finest 18th-century French furniture.
